DAY 9/100: It has been a trying week for me, personally and professionally. So when I walked into work and my boss stopped me as I was leaving, handed me this deck of cards as a 🎁 and said “You grew up reading this text, right? Might help us both this week”, it felt like a divine intervention. The cards are stunningly printed and the translations are well done as well – conveying the wisdom of the ancient text of the Gita in an approachable way. I’m a firm believer in coincidences and serendipity so it was no surprise that the first card I pulled was my favorite Bhagavad Gita verse of all time.
yad yad vibhūtimat sattvaṁ
śrīmad ūrjitam eva vā
tat tad evāvagaccha tvaṁ
mama tejo-’ṁśa-sambhavam
Know that all opulent, beautiful and glorious creations spring from but a spark of My splendor. (10.41)
All things beautiful, serendipitous surprises, glorious creations are tiny sparks of a larger splendor belonging to someone and something way larger than our limited understanding could comprehend. This realization puts so much into perspective for me and forces me to cultivate even more gratitude for the lovely elements that ARE in my life! The incredible people, synapses of beauty, memorable conversations and meaningful connections – they bring me joy because they are sparks connecting me to the ultimate flame 🔥 of joy who also resides within me. Fanning those sparks, appreciating them and giving thanks is an internal appreciation as well and so necessary in our current day and time. So today, I thank Pete, my boss, the instrument in my realizations on #day9. I’m also eternally grateful to my father and my grandfather for sharing this text with me and giving me a way to practically incorporate the beauty of the Gita in my day to day.
